What Read and Rise is about

The 2019 Quran Competition

The National Read & Rise Quran Competition was established in 2010. Sponsored by the Late Mubarak Abdel Aziz Alsaway and organised by Right Start Foundation International. The competition extends to all regions of the UK and offers a platform for thousands of Muslims in Britain to demonstrate their recitation and receive vital feedback: Cementing their ambition and rewarding their efforts.

About the Competition

Competitors range in age and ability; from 4 to 74 and novice to pro. Each year we welcome back hundreds of competitors all aiming to achieve a higher level than they had the previous year. With the ultimate aim of winning the category, they have entered, whether it’s 1, 3, 5, 15, 20 or 30 juzz – the whole quran.

Each year the competition welcomes hundreds of new applicants, from different nationalities and all at different stages of their hifz journey. All who enter are rewarded with gifts and a certificate stating their level of recitation. The winners of each category are invited to attend a prestigious awards ceremony in our capital, London, where they are awarded their prize (from £100 to £10,000).

Each year the Qur’an competition tests contestants for their Hifz(memorisation) ability, this year the competition will incorporate a new element which all participants must complete. The new element will require contestants to read a small amount of information on chosen subject. On the competition, the contestants will be asked questions to reflect their understanding of the Qur’an as well as memorisation.

The competition runs every summer. We at Right Start Foundation International invite you all to enter Read & Rise.
